Sessions do not have to be divided by content area. Most frequently, we have a mix of disciplines in attendance. In that case, we include strategies that can be used in multiple contexts and settings. We embed some content-specific examples, and approach the entire learning environment including room set up, classroom routines and procedures, and cultural considerations. We cover the four domains of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, but can also focus intensely in a particular domain. Training support staff is also an important area to cover. We have trainings that address wraparound supports and the staff that are working with ELs and their families including administrators, guidance counselors, support staff and administrative assistants.
